Japan Solo

Field Notes from Japan

In April 2026, the journey changed direction.

What began as Pacific Solo evolved into Japan Solo - a platform focused on learning from "SuperAgers" and communities in Japan's longevity hotspots.

Alongside the YouTube channel, a Substack publication was launched under the same name, creating a space to document the journey in real time.

On the Ground

Japan Solo captures what cannot be found in reports or data.

It documents:

  • Conversations with individuals living well into later life

  • Daily routines in villages, islands, and overlooked regions

  • Observations from longevity hotspots - both thriving and in decline

  • The small behaviors and cultural patterns that shape how people age

Some of these insights make their way into books and advisory work.
Many do not.

A key discovery:

Longevity is not just about where you live.
It is about how you live - and what you maintain.

The places often described as longevity hotspots are not fixed.
They are fragile systems, sustained by values, habits, and community.

Japan Solo exists to observe, document, and understand this in real time.

An Ongoing Journey

This is not a finished narrative.
It is a working exploration of longevity, community, and what it means to live well over time.

Never Too Late is not just a message.
It is something being tested, in real time.
