Helping Organizations and Individuals Navigate a Longer-Lived World

Japan is the world's most advanced aging society.
For the past several years, Lowell Sheppard has traveled extensively throughout Japan researching healthy lifespan, longevity, community, purpose, and the behaviors of people who remain active and engaged well into later life.
His work has taken him from Okinawa's longevity villages to remote communities in Shimane, Nagano, Kyotango, Amami Oshima, and every one of Japan's 47 prefectures.
Drawing on original field research, interviews, and lived experience, Lowell helps audiences understand one of the most important questions of our time:
How do we live longer, healthier, more meaningful lives?
At the same time, he challenges organizations, leadership teams, and communities to rethink aging, purpose, customer behavior, innovation, and the future of society itself.
Whether speaking to executives, entrepreneurs, educators, community leaders, or conference audiences, Lowell combines research, storytelling, humor, and practical insight to leave audiences informed, inspired, and equipped for action.
Biography
Lowell Sheppard is the Founder of the Never Too Late Academy, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Senior Advisor to the International Academic Forum (IAFOR), author of ten books, and founder of HOPE International Development Agency Japan.
A Canadian who has lived in Japan for nearly three decades, Lowell has spent much of the last several years traveling throughout the country researching healthy lifespan, longevity, community, and demographic change.
His research forms the basis of his forthcoming book, Longevity and the Art of Community: Lessons from Japan.
He has spoken to audiences throughout Asia on leadership, purpose, innovation, community development, healthy aging, and personal transformation.
Before focusing on longevity research, Lowell became known for pursuing audacious goals, including cycling the length of Japan, sailing around the Japanese archipelago, leading humanitarian initiatives across Asia, and building one of Japan's most respected international NGOs.
Today he combines those experiences with evidence-based research to help individuals and organizations prepare for a longer-lived future.
