Coaching: Rites of Passage for Men and Boys

Modern society has extended adolescence, but often removed the pathways into manhood.

Many boys grow older without ever experiencing a meaningful rite of passage, mentorship process, or clear transition into adult responsibility.

The Never Too Late Academy provides coaching, guidance, and conversation around rites of passage, masculinity, purpose, and the journey from boyhood into mature manhood.

This work draws on Lowell Sheppard’s long-standing interest in the subject, including his book Boys Becoming Men: Rediscovering Puberty Rites of Passage, as well as decades of mentoring, leadership development, and cross-cultural research.

Having studied traditional and modern rites of passage in different cultures, including Japan, Lowell approaches the subject with both practicality and humanity.

The goal is not nostalgia, ideology, or rigid formulas.

It is to help younger men develop responsibility, resilience, purpose, and healthy identity within the realities of the modern world.
Coaching and consultation may include:
  • Mentorship and life transition guidance

  • Father-and-son conversations

  • Purpose, discipline, and responsibility

  • Creating meaningful rites of passage experiences

  • Navigating adolescence and early adulthood

  • Identity, direction, and belonging

  • Leadership and personal mission

These conversations may be helpful for fathers, mentors, educators, organizations, and younger men themselves.

A complimentary 30-minute consultation is available for those exploring whether this coaching may be helpful.

Because boys do not simply become men by getting older.
